This week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, the annual celebration for all New Zealanders for the Māori language. From a single, 'Maori Language Day' in 1972 to a full week from 1975, this is the 50th anniversary of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori!

Some te Reo Māori words and phrases you may hear at Audiology South:

Tēna Koe [Hello to one person]

Ata mārie [Good morning]

Ngā mihi o te ahiahi [Good afternoon]

Kei te pēhea koe? [How are you?]

Pokotaringa [ear]

Oko [to hear]

Tāturi [earwax (cerumen)]

Rongonga [hearing]

Haere rā [goodbye]

Ka kite anō I a koe [See you again]
